The Queen Elizabeth II sculpture, created by renowned Canadian artist Ruth Abernethy, was unveiled at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in November 2023. This striking 150% life-size bronze statue captures the late monarch as she appeared when addressing the Canadian Parliament in 1977.

We were honored to contribute to this prestigious project by supplying and designing the granite base for the sculpture. Our work began earlier in the year at Queen’s Park, in front of the visitor welcome centre, where the installation site was carefully enclosed to ensure a seamless and protected construction process. The initial budget pricing for this project was established more than four years prior to the installation, with the final installation and unveiling taking place in Fall 2023.

The project was an incredible journey, involving close collaboration with our trusted partners, including Trinity Custom Masonry (who carried out the installation), Roof Tile Management Inc (contractor) and MST Bronze. Despite challenges posed by a global pandemic, public opinions, material sourcing complexities and design preferences, our team stood shoulder to shoulder with Ruth Abernethey and remained committed to delivering a base worthy of this historic tribute.
