The Illinois Police Officers Memorial, located on the West Lawn of the State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois, is a tribute to brave officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Originally unveiled in 1990, this 13-foot monument, featuring life-size bronze figures of a male and female police officer, has stood as a symbol of sacrifice, dedication, and remembrance for decades.
In 2021, a $500,000 renovation project was undertaken to enhance and preserve the memorial – and the newly renovated site was re-dedicated and opened to the public on May 6, 2021.
We were honored to contribute to this project by supplying Arnold Monument Company with Jet Black granite for the memorial walls, as well as Cadalso Grey and Balmoral Red granite pavers for the walkways.
The names of fallen officers are inscribed on the polished black granite surrounding the memorial. Each year, on the first Thursday of May, a dedicated ceremony is held to pay tribute to recently fallen officers, with their names added to the memorial. This longstanding tradition ensures that their service and dedication will never be forgotten.
