Mother and Children Cemetery Granite Memorial

The delivery of two identical Mother & Child sculptures, rendered in different granite colours, was a collaboration between HGH Granite and The Catholic Cemeteries of Hamilton. One sculpture is located at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery in Stoney Creek, and the other at the Holy Family Cemetery in Milton.

Our role on the project encompassed everything from sizing considerations, sketches and clay modelling to carving the granite with advanced milling equipment. We were also responsible for the final engraving and installation process.

Although the statues for the two different sites are identical, we distinguished each piece by colour – Indian Red granite for Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery in Stoney Creek, and Imperial Pink granite for its counterpart at the Holy Family Cemetery.

This was a poignant project for us to work on – the brief being to create pieces that would bring peace, solace and comfort to loved ones visiting the children’s section of the cemeteries.
