Honour the past with distinction. Fulfill the present with dedication. Inspire the future with permanence. Generation after generation.
Founded in 1929, HGH Granite began as a supplier of granite and custom stonework services exclusively to monument retailers. Through generations of hard work and an unwavering focus on a single product, we’ve expanded our capabilities to satisfy even the most ambitious and challenging of requests.
Today, with HGH Granite now owned and operated by the fifth generation of the same family that started it all, we proudly serve more industries across a greater area, all from our convenient location in one of North America’s most densely populated regions.
Our facility in Ontario manufactures and repairs granite works using a combination of old world craftsmanship and new world technology. With expertise in importing, exporting and globally sourcing granite, we can bring a wider variety of product to more clients than ever before.
Henry George Hardwick started H.G. Hardwick & Son Ltd, in Hamilton, Ontario shortly after moving with his family from Sheffield, England. A skilled stone mason, he began producing high-quality memorials in a small facility on Ottawa Street.
A devastating fire at the factory led Henry to move to King Street West, where our retail Memorial Studio is still located and owned by a member of the Hardwick family. It began supplying granite to other monument dealers, becoming both a wholesale and retail location for Ontario.
Don Hardwick separated the wholesale granite division and moved it to Dundas, Ontario. Under the name HGH Granite Inc., we began supplying Southern Ontario and upper New York state monument retailers with quality wholesale granite for memorialization.
After successfully completing an intricate granite couch, we knew we were ready to expand our focus and work with artists and architects to show the possibilities that abound with stone.
The first member of the fifth Hardwick generation began with HGH Granite, showing our commitment to provide our very best to the industry. The younger members brought new ideas and built on the foundation laid by the previous generations to create the HGH Granite that stands today.
The demand for architectural granite supplied by HGH Granite experienced a significant increase with the completion of several complex projects. We used our extensive sourcing experience to connect with new suppliers and quarries in both India and China, increasing the number of granites we supply.
We enhanced our service offering by combining sandblast operations for cemetery memorial supply into our HGH Granite plant. Having everything under one roof improved our the speed and enabled us to expand our customer base to meet demand.
We are continuing to honour our past while also venturing further into the architectural, landscape and art communities. With this step in our evolution we hope to display our excellence in the industry and “inspire the future with permanence”.
Tell us your vision and we’ll help you source it, import it and build it.
